John Mark McMillan “The Medicine” CD Giveaway
You may not know the name John Mark McMillan yet, but chances are you’ve heard his worship anthem “How He Loves” being sung somewhere. “How He Loves” is such a powerful song that my friend Lindsey Nobles recently did a guest blog series, asking various people to chime in with their thoughts on how the themes from the song play out in the impact of God’s love in their lives. If you haven’t read those blogs, you should.
The lyrics alone are incredible and sometimes I can hardly get past the opening line, “He is jealous for me…”.
John Mark’s new album, “The Medicine”, released last week and it is nothing short of brilliant. Not only is John Mark extremely prolific and relatable as a songwriter, but “The Medicine” is easily one of the most profound and piercing projects I have heard in a long time. Equally daring and disarming, the songs on this album have brought my heart back to a place of wonder that I feel like I lost somewhere over the past few years.
I’m excited to be partnering with Integrity Music, to give away 5 copies of “The Medicine” to AnIdolHeart.com readers!
You can learn more about John at www.thejohnmark.com and follow him on Twitter @johnmarkmc.

“So heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets
When I think about the way, He loves us”
I love this song! <3

The line that most resonates with me is 'That I don't have time to maintain these regrets' – what a great song this is! That video was great – thanks for sharing!

"If Grace is an ocean, we're all sinking." This line just really shows how much grace God has for us.

"If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking" – by far my fav line.
July 14th, 2010 at 6:58 pm
The opening line: "He is jealous for me," and "We are His portion and He is our prize, Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes, If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking."

My favorite line is "Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes, " – I love that it highlights that God drew us, not that we found God.
Although "Oh how He loves" is also a pretty good line.

"He is jealous for me."
Not jealous of me, jealous FOR me. Some smart man opened my eyes to that

"You met me between my breaking
I know that I still love You, God, despite the agony"
I don't deal with death very well, but the first part of this year I lost my Great Aunt (who almost adopted my Mom after her parents died) and a very good friend. It was a combination of these losses that brought me to my personal breaking point. I cried, I don't think cried even does it justice, I was curled up on the floor shuddering with sobs…ALL WEEKEND LONG… as I mourned the loss, examined where I was at with my life, and basically got really honest with God and myself. HE MET ME THERE. He was there all along, but it was there in the silence of my condo, while I poured all the hurt out that I threw myself back into his arms and realized what a distance I had gone from him even though I loved him.
It was in that weekend of tears that I finally told God I couldn't keep it all together and I couldn't do it alone. I confessed that I was sick of looking for a new church and was deeply in need of finding that "home" base because while I was looking it was too easy to find a reason to skip a Sunday. It was agony, to take that loss and try to shoulder it alone. It was agony slowly letting life get between God & Myself, but it just slowly happens over time when you are not being intentional with your time. That Monday I was at the park with the kids and Melissa met us, I told her honestly about where I was at (instead of putting on the happy face) and she told me all about Crosspoint. Pete was starting the Shattered Dreams series and she said it sounded like the perfect sermon for me to start with. It is hard to believe that it has only been a few months, because the impact and sense of community is greater than that short time would lend you to believe.

"He is jealous for me…"
It's the opening line but a big one…
It reminds me of Psalm 23 which reminds us that His beauty and love pursue us all the days of our lives…what an awesome concept to know that we are being pursued by the creator of the universe!

I like the lyric/line from
verse 2:
We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
I have not yet heard this album, but I have heard great reviews on it.
Thanks for the opportunity!
God bless.

We are "drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes." Can't imagine actually being able to look into the eyes of my Savior. One day

it seems to be the most popular one. i agree with several other posters that the best line is "Drawn to redemption by the grace in HIs eyes". to really come into contact with the overwhelming grace of God leaves you different, whether you choose to accept it or run from it, you can't leave the same way you came.
this line so beautifully shows that we don't come to God so much as He pursues and draws us. the entire song is amazing, although i personally don't care for the "sloppy, wet kiss" line. i actually prefer DCB's version of that line.

"…all of a sudden i am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory" – such a powerful song.

So many great lines in that song. Probably my favorite is "if grace is an ocean, we're all sinking." I always think how grateful I am that His grace is that huge.

These three lines are awesome:
"We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking."
What a powerful lyric to express the core of the gospel!

"I don’t have time to maintain these regrets, When I think about, the way He Loves Us…"
Reminds me that :perfect love casts out all fear", and that if I'm focused on Jesus and His perfect love there isn't time for regrets.

“If grace is an ocean we’re all sinking”
And I also love “drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes”
Incredible lyrics and heart felt story behind it.
